Diver’s Pearls and Fingers Laced

It is night and weeding time,

des moments clairs

and being chaste.

7 minutes on a dime,

we all imagine,

her fanning bare,

with diver’s pearls

and fingers laced.

The smells that bind,

by waters swift;

the pressure,

from opening in the deep.

I wash my hands,

of furnaced clutch,

and lose the skin,

old wrapper;

it’s in the air as ash,

we breathed in,

and slumped a blow;

and then it’s far

for birds to hear.
